Health = a feeling not a look!
How does the above statement make you feel?
I'm keeping it short and simple today but I know that the way you look is not always a direct indication of how healthy you are.
Health is much more than physical. When we talk about health we should always be including our mental and emotional well-being as well, especially with everything that has been happening over the past 2 years.
Here’s the cold, honest truth: The images that the fitness industry and social media puts out are almost never images of actual health. They only represent a small handful of people with a very specific body type, one that takes genetics and sometimes unhealthy behaviors to achieve. But somehow that image represents “health.”
And I totally get it!! Being in the fitness industry there is a pressure to look/be a certain way to represent properly what I do for a living. I am not perfect, I do not have 6 pack abs but I do have strong muscles that allow me move through life well and training keeps my mental health in check.
It’s time to stop sacrificing health for the sake of looking a certain way, and start implementing daily healthy habits.
Sleep well, move well, eat well. That’s where we start! Notice how you feel, how daily tasks are easier on your body and how much more energy you have. If you start implementing daily healthier habits and your bodyweight changes, so be it. But changing the way your body looks should not the focus, but a possible byproduct of becoming a healthier human.
And if your bodyweight doesn’t change? You’re still a healthier person for implementing healthier daily habits.
Be kind to the one body you have and remember to value it for everything it DOES for you, not for what it looks like.
Amen sister!!
