Overfed and Under Nourished

I stumbled onto this great research article titled Americans: Overfed and Undernourished by John Ikerd.

I won’t share it all here I will just drop some quick important stats.

“Americas are the most obese people in the world. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, adult obesity has increased by 60% within the past twenty years.

Trends for childhood obesity are even worse, having doubled for children and tripled for adolescents during the same time.

One-third of American adults are now considered severely overweight or obese. Obesity is closely linked with other health problems, particularly diabetes and heart disease, and ranks second only to tobacco smoking as a cause of adult death.

Americans are the most overfed yet undernourished people in the world.

The epidemic of obesity is obviously related to the North American diet.

It might be easy to blame these maladies on the sedentary but high-stress North American lifestyle, which probably is a significant casual factor.

But an even more important cause might be the lack of essential nutrients in many of today's foods.

A growing number of scientific studies are finding significant declines in the nutritional value of our foods. And dramatic drops in nutrient density have occurred during a period when North American farms were under pressure to specialize, mechanize, get bigger to produce more food cheaper.”

The takeaway is: we need to be eating real quality whole nutrient dense foods daily.

Protein, produce and water should be the staples of each meal you eat. It’s not sexy but it's simple and effective.

And when you struggle to get enough variety and vitamins/minerals in your diet take a legit whole food supplement like Isagenix Greens click here and grab some.

I take it daily as nutritional insurance and trust me I eat as well as anyone on the planet and still can’t get enough through just food.

We have to stop treating out body like a crappy motel room and start treating like it’s the only place we have to live.
