Here's the thing about looks...
Friendly reminder there…
YOU ARE MORE THAN YOUR BODY
What you LOOK like does not define who you are as a human being.
And here’s the thing about looks…
Changing the way you look won’t actually make you happier.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of believing that if only we looked different, our life would be better…
I’ve lived so much of my life this way (and still fall into seasons of believing this), but I’m here to tell you it won’t.
I know we all have to go on our own journey to truly understand and believe this, but after 49 years of struggling to accept myself, one major lesson always proves true…
The more you find VALUE in yourself for something other than what you look like, the less important those looks become. Now I’m not saying that like it’s an easy thing to do… because it’s not!
It’s always been hard for me to talk positively about myself. To find ANYTHING of value in myself.
I never thought I was smart enough.
I never thought I was a good enough athlete.
I wasn’t the outgoing one.
The list goes on and on.
The point is…
For most of my life it has been impossible for me to find value in anything about myself.
And I’m sure that’s the case for many of you as well.
So start with ONE thing.
Think about one thing you do or one quality about yourself that makes you feel even the slightest bit confident or proud.
For example, do you think you’re a good cook? Are you confident in the kitchen and enjoy making food?
DO MORE of that!
Because you know what happens when you lean into the things that make you feel empowered and most life yourself?
You get REPS in that feeling.
And reps help you build CONFIDENCE in yourself for WHO YOU ARE.
They also help to reinforce that there are far more incredible things about you than what you look like!
So here’s my challenge for you today…
Find one quality about yourself that you are proud of (even if it’s just the smallest bit proud!) Make sure it’s either a skill you have or a quality you like about your personality. There’s really no wrong answer other than choosing something that has to do with what you look like… those qualities are off-limits for this exercise!
Now do more of it!
And that’s it.
Choosing to redefine your worth is a slow process so don’t expect changes to happen overnight. But the more you lean into the qualities about yourself that you are most proud of, the more confident you will become in WHO YOU ARE.
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! But your beauty doesn’t lie in looks. It lies in who you are, what you bring to this world, and how you treat and show up for others.
Your beauty is an ACTION.
It’s energy.
It’s your presence.
It’s how you make people feel.

Amen Cheryl!! Kudos to YOU for addressing this issue.
Our society places too much emphasis on external beauty often leading to poor self esteem, lack of self confidence, eating disorders, cosmetic surgeries/procedures etc the list goes on and on. So sad.
We owe it to ourselves & each other to look deeper than the mirror and truly value & edify inner attributes as they are far more important and attractive than what we see on the outside.
You are an inspiring, intelligent, fabulous woman, Cheryl!
Thanks for all that you do!
Cheers!
Nancy
Thank for sharing Cheryl, I too used to be like that in my younger years… still do sometimes, BUT when I got close to 60 I realized that I don’t care how people might see me as long as I’m happy with myself for being me… I took on the attitude that nobody has a say in how I should look, dress, ect… UNLESS they’re paying my bills and looking after me, and have a say in my life…otherwise I think to myself “they can keep it to themselves”
I’m in my 65th year and feeling good and looking good for my age! Love workouts and the classes!
